West Hills Renovation
A dramatic transformation of a 1980s hillside home in Portland's prestigious King's Heights neighborhood. Originally built in the spirit of its era but left unfinished in parts, Aforma undertook a full interior gutting and studs-out reimagination, breathing new life into its aging structure.
Starting with the unfinished lower level, the renovation added significant square footage to the home, effectively enhancing its functionality and overall appeal. The exterior was updated with sleek black cedar siding, which refreshed its appearance and complemented the home's natural surroundings. New insulation and mechanical systems were installed throughout to boost energy efficiency, a core component of the owner’s sustainability strategy.
An entirely new trimless LED lighting system was installed to accentuate the home's architectural features and create a more inviting atmosphere. This was complemented by adding new decks and landscapiing to extend the outdoor living space overlooking a natural hillside setting.
Van Evera Bailey “Sinclair House”
One of our favorite full renovations, this historic 1940 home designed by esteemed Portland architect Van Evera Bailey is located on Portland's scenic Council Crest. Over the decades, the home had suffered from inadequate remodels and general neglect, detracting from its original splendor and architectural integrity. Positioned to capture breathtaking views of the Cascades, our renovation succeeded in expanding and reinvigorating the property for new owners, enhancing its original architectural elements.
The redesigned structure introduces a thoughtful addition, including a two-car garage alongside two new bedrooms and a bathroom. Externally, we gave the home a significant facelift with new stained cedar siding, modern clad wood windows, and vibrant integral-color stucco, revitalizing its aesthetic and structural integrity. Internally, we used a palette of rich materials such as white oak floors and staircases, custom matched walnut cabinetry, and crisp white countertops and walls to transform the living spaces into a harmonious blend of contemporary and timeless design. The Sinclair House is a proud statement piece once again on Council Crest.
Blackhawk Primary Suite
This project involved a comprehensive renovation of a primary suite in a stunning home located in the desirable Ironwood neighborhood of Washington County.
Aforma executed a redesign of the main floor bedroom and bathroom, transforming them into a bright, open suite with modern and transitional touches suitable for multi-generational living or luxurious guest quarters.
Key highlights include wall-mounted Watermark fixtures and a striking marble shower archway in the bath, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the space.
