Our Company
We are specialized custom builders applying the highest level of craftsmanship, quality materials, and technical expertise to homes for discerning lovers of modern design. We aspire for our homes to transcend their material structure to become wonderful holistic spaces for our clients’ lifestyle, family, and passions. Aforma is a certified PHIUS Passive House Builder.
We partner with Portland’s fine architects and interior designers to bring your vision to life. We limit our projects to a handful each year to maintain high standards of quality and aesthetics. Aforma was founded by Will Pritikin and Sean Green in 2013.
When our clients talk about their dreams for their homes, they tell stories about their family, their interests, what they love about modern design – they open themselves up to us. This is our privileged opportunity to listen very closely and truly absorb their desires and needs. These become our guideposts – they will inhabit the new physical spaces we create and make them utterly unique to you.
Modern design is always in motion, constantly innovating. We stay current with the latest trends and construction techniques to ensure that your design choices will be functional, reliable, and a solid investment today and tomorrow.
Design ethos
Our work hones clean lines, and uses natural materials and simple shapes. We believe spaces should be filled with just enough light and soft shadows. We invite the natural world inside with large windows, we shelter by using screens, and we always strive to ease transitions with refined minimalist construction. We are inspired by buildings and people from all around the world and we build with the Pacific Northwest in mind.
We are fond of: Carrara marble slabs, wide planks of rift-sawn white oak, concrete counters, certain handmade tile from Sausalito, minimalist LED lighting, board-form concrete, smooth plastered walls, rough cedar exteriors, window walls, stainless steel levers, trimless construction, Ipe decking, Calcutta mosaics, brass pins, concealed fasteners, book-matched walnut cabinetry.
We are exhilarated by: the archetypal, linear, integrated, floating, well-lit, warm, minimalist, open, trimless, concealed, mitered, connected, screened, recessed, smoothed, weathered, quiet, niched, fine-lined, touchless, crisp, matte, blackened, carved, natural, cantilevered, hidden, reflected, interconnected.
