Field Project Manager / Construction Superintendent
Job Description
Superintendents have the ability to see the future and always have a plan. This requires an expert level knowledge of construction methods and the ability to ensure work is being performed correctly.
A Superintendent should always be scaling communication to the project team, trade and design partners, clients, and other stakeholders. The Superintendent is the coach and mentor to the Assistant Superintendent and other project team members including trade partners. The project should have a positive culture that supports the project goals.
It is the Superintendent's responsibility to ensure the job is safe, quality work is performed for the amount budgeted, the schedule is met, and the client is delighted. The Superintendent ensures that the project is on track, in part, by managing the project’s Pull Planning effort. This includes getting confident, validated commitments from trade partners through collaboration that incorporates transparency and trust.
Ultimately, a Superintendent is a servant leader who is focused on empowering and uplifting those who work with them to achieve perfection. Effectively communicating and trying to understand the perspectives of others is essential.
Superintendents need to continuously strive to improve and learn, accept responsibility, and be receptive to feedback.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage all types of construction work: deconstruction, foundations, framing, MEP, window and door installation, insulation and WRBs, siding, roofing, drywall/plaster, finish carpentry, casework and cabinetry install, solid surface install, tile, and painting among other kinds of custom residential construction work
Ensure the project production deadlines and budget are met
Develop an outstanding relationship between owner, contractor, and trade and design partners
Create the perfect job site that is safe, clean, and organized
Know and understand the project plans and specifications
Ensure the project has a stable environment and good flow
Create a positive project culture focused on respect for people and continuous improvement
Create 6-week look ahead schedules that incorporate validated commitments and identify constraints
Lead Weekly Work Planning meetings that includes commitments from trade partners for the following week
Conduct Daily Huddles to go over over commitments that were part of the Weekly Work Plan and coach the field team to conduct the huddles in your absence; ensure the daily log is created
Support continuous improvement by tracking daily committments (Plan Percent Complete)
Know and understand appropriate building codes and regulations
Achieve “Zero Punch List”
Create, with the Project Manager, the Safety Plan and oversee its implementation
Conduct weekly project OAC/Owner’s meetings
Conduct trade partner orientations and ensure trade partners do not start work before they complete orientation
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of 7 years experience managing or being hands-on in the construction industry
Competent supervising a broad range of custom residential construction tasks
All candidates are expected to have reliable transportation and a basic set of carpentry tools
Preferred Skills & Experience
A degree in Construction Management
A certificate in Project Management
Experience using Procore
Has worked on custom architectural projects (with design partners involved with construction management)
Experience with commercial projects
Lead Carpenter
Job Description
We are a Portland residential Design + Build contractor specializing in modern construction and renovation with a focus on quality, teamwork, and client service. We offer excellent pay based on experience and skill set, and we are a growing organization with many opportunities.
We are seeking a lead carpenter who delights in producing excellent work, and can complete a variety of residential construction tasks at a high level of quality. A track record of successful lead carpentry experience is required. You must have the ability to handle fast-paced job sites, think quickly on your feet, enjoy mastering new skills if required, and conscientiously follow instructions of the site superintendent and project managers on the company’s behalf.
The right candidate will be a self-driver, very detail-oriented, a natural fit as part of a team producing complex modern designs, and someone who will value contributing as a member of our company.

Responsibilities
Performing high quality framing, window and door installation, trim, siding, and other fine custom residential carpentry. Finish carpentry experience is a huge plus.
Ability to read structural plans
Achieving a high level of quality control
Working closely with other team members and following instructions of site superintendents
Reviewing daily and weekly project schedule and managing work to make sure deadlines are met
Working with project team to facilitate the site work flow and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors
Maintaining a first-class job site, safe, clean, and with all tools organized
Qualifications
Minimum of 2-5 years hands-on experience as a lead carpenter in the construction industry. Candidates with exceptional experience are encouraged to apply.
Comfortable performing a broad range of carpentry tasks (finish carpentry skills are a huge plus)
All candidates are expected to have reliable transportation and a basic set of carpentry tools
